Books 1 and 2 – Little Panda and Little Monkey – Recommended for ages 0-3
The books are soft for young babies to hold easily and are machine washable for easy cleaning. They consist mostly of black and white pictures (great for young eyes still distinguishing colors) of the panda and monkey playing around with a cute story in each book. Since my daughter is only 6 months, I loved these ones. My daughter loves to squeeze everything and chew on anything she can get her hands on, so soft book are really nice for reading time.
Book 3 – What do you see?: A Lift the Flap Book About Endangered Animals – Recommended for ages 2-5
The story includes rhymes and clues as to what animal may be endangered with the correct animal lying underneath the lift up flap. Not only does it include several endangered animals, but it ends with the last clue being who can be the one to save the animals. The answer is YOU of course! It has colorful pictures and the lift up flap makes young children eager to find out which animal is hiding from plain sight. Not only will my daughter learn from this one, but I learned a few endangered animals myself. I didn’t realize the Monarch Butterfly was endangered, did you?
Book 4 – My First Garden – Recommended for ages 2-5
The book teaches children about taking care of a garden, what’s grown in a garden and incorporates colors into the lesson as well. The book is extra fun as it’s uniquely shaped like a basket (as in holding the veggies) and makes it easy for little ones to hold on to. If you look from the back, you see the basket and all the colorful veggies that were picked in the book. I loved that the story goes through the very beginning of growing a garden through to the end of picking them all to make Vegetable soup. I love that even though my daughter is still a bit young for the concept of gardening, I can teach her about colors and vegetable names with the help of this book.
Book 5 – I can save the Ocean! – Recommended for ages 4-6
The story is about a fun green Monster, Max, who discovers that there is trash in the Ocean. He learns how the trash gets to the Ocean, how the trash affects the Ocean animals, and what he (and other children) can do to help prevent this trash from getting there. I really like all the tips for helping to prevent Ocean pollution in this book. I also like that on the front and back flap, there are new words and definitions for children to learn about both pollution and the Ocean. Again, this one is a bit mature for my daughter, but I look forward to teaching her one day about ways we can help save our Oceans.
My favorite part about these books, beside my daughter learning about how we can help the environment, is that along with her, I’m also learning new things. In recent months I’ve become more interested in learning about going green and what I can help with to protect my planet. As I’m still learning about all I can do, I find the tips online and in these books valuable to me as well as to my daughter.
My daughter is six months, so she’s really into the soft books the most as she can hold and chew on them. For now, the other books are a bit mature for her, but I look forward to her being able to understand them better. I really think this book series is a wonderful idea! The stories are cute, fun, and I really think children and parents alike can and will learn from them. I’d really recommend checking out the website and getting some of these books for your little one today! Our planet is so important and I believe teaching our children at an early age about ways to help keep it from deteriorating is the smart and responsible thing for us parents to do.
